Grand Canyon at Sunset

I am back from my trip – but more on that soon. I just wanted to post this photo with a larger version of it as some of my twitter followers and some friends wanted to see a larger version. I may upload the 100% version but that is bordering on 50mb.

It’s always tough to capture the ‘grandness’ of the grand canyon. One of my favorite things about this place is that, despite this being my fourth visit, tenth sunset there, it is always different. I go to this view point (Yavapai point) every visit yet it still takes my breath away.

This evening was pretty interesting as there was a afternoon storm that had just passed in time for the sunset and there were some controlled fires on the north rim causing an interesting haze. Like I said, it’s hard to capture the grandness of this place, but I feel a panoramic does help a little. This is six photos stitched together. The originals were taken with a Canon 5D mark II, 24-70mm F/2.8L and a 0.9 grad filter to bring out the sky.
